Recessed and Track Lighting

Recessed and Track Lighting

Are you tired of not having enough light? Would you like your home to feel warm and inviting? If so you should consider having recessed lighting and track lighting installed. By installing new track lighting or recessed cans you can update your home or business and give it a fresh feel and new look that will keep your friends and family talking every time they come over.

Make dark and drab spaces feel more spacious while giving you the light where you need it most. Both track and recessed lighting give you the options to highlight work areas, art, and furniture and show case interior architecture.

I was told that I can’t get them.

Technology has been changing the last couple of years and even if someone told you in the past that you can’t get recessed lighting installed because of access, I’m here to tell you that John's Electric can install them even if it’s more difficult than normal. We are known in Birmingham of getting the job done right, no matter what.

What should I get?

There are many choices and sizes of recessed lighting, from incandescent, fluorescent, LED and low-voltage. The choices can be quite confusing: what type should I use? Where should they be installed? How many should I get? However, don’t worry! John's Electric can assist you in making the right decisions when it comes to recessed lighting. Our master and journeyman electricians have been trained in residential and commercial lighting installations and design.

When you hire John's Electric, we will make sure that the installation is done in a timely manner. We will make sure that the fixtures are installed in straight lines, and we triple check before we cut holes in your ceiling. Spring is the perfect time for an electrical safety inspection

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Electrical circuitry and panels tend to get ignored throughout the year and only get addressed when you experience a short circuit or electrical trips. As a homeowner, you may not know everything involved in the electrical circuitry of your home but there are still some questions you should ask your electrical inspector and Spring is the perfect time to do it!

No matter the size of the job, from changing out old electrical paneling to major renovations to your home or property, you should always ask your electrical inspector whether or not your home’s electrical fittings are up to date and in compliance with current regulations and building codes.

Secondly, be sure your electrical inspector pays attention to the safety of your electrical panel and makes sure that they are properly insulated to avoid electrical shock. Panels must also never be placed near damp or wet areas.

Understanding your electrical consumption is also important. Washing machines, televisions and air conditioners consume significant amounts of electricity, and it is your responsibility as the homeowner to be sure they are connected to the right circuitry to avoid electrical shorts or fluctuations in voltage.

Lastly, once the inspection is completed and any necessary repairs made, have your inspector run a double check to be sure all of your electrical circuitry is working properly. Ask your inspector to provide you with a complete report of all inspections and repairs done.

Why is my main breaker on the breaker panel tripping all the time

Monday, April 17, 2017

Any of these issues can cause significant injury or death by electrocution or fire. If that consistent breaker tripping occurs in your home, try turning the breaker off and then on again. If it stays on, the issue may be resolved. If not, and the breaker still trips, try to determine which part of the electrical system is causing the problem. Your safety is of utmost importance. With any electrical issue, calling your electrician (and hey we know a awesome one...you can find that awesome electrician here) first can keep you out of serious danger.

What others say about John's Electric Service

My Mother recently came to live with me, and I needed a fan installed in her west-facing room, to keep it cool in the guest room. I had to wait a little bit, but it was worth it. The price was reasonable, I could tell he was conscientious and he made an extra effort to do as much as he could while he was here - including going down through a difficult attic to install, so the wires would not show. Highly recommend. He came with his grandson and they worked a few hours. Hoping to get him back soon for some more work. Thank you, John!

Very dependable, professional, friendly and just good at what he does. John wired an addition for us and repaired my breaker box. He is friendly and trust worthy. I had no problem leaving full access to our home while we were away. I highly recommend him and his phone number will remain in my contacts. Job well done! Thanks again.
