Residential Generators

Residential Generators

How many times here in Birmingham have you lost power? It has happened so many times that I can’t even keep track. With all the storms, occasional earthquakes and the temporarily cut offs from our own utility companies, it seems that power is always going off.

Losing your electricity is aggravating and annoying. For those who have medical conditions, it can be potentially life threatening. That’s why having a generator installed can be one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your family. Not only will you have power when you need it, a generator will increase your home’s value.

There is no greater time to have a generator installed. With all the storms that have hit the US, there is a great demand for generators. Prices seem to go up by the week, and generators are hard to get.

When you have a generator installed by John's Electric, you will get the best bang for your buck, and you will get unparalleled customer service. Investing in a generator is a big project, and you don’t want a rookie to handle such a job. We will give your home a complete evaluation to see what the best option is for you and your family. We handle the evaluation, design & drawling’s, permits, installations and inspections. We also handle the gas hookup coordination.

In Good Hands

There is only one thing you have to do and that is enjoy the peace of mind knowing that you will always have power from your generator in the event of a power outage, blackout or a whiteout, you will have peace of mind knowing that you will still be able to use your heating and A/C, Medical equipment, lighting and your food in your refrigerator and freezer won’t go bad.

We have many options to choose from. Your standby generator will employ an automatic transfer switch which monitors the incoming utility company power supply, starts the generator, and transfers the load automatically, and upon return of utility power after the power outage, it automatically transfers the load back to the utility power supply, continues to run the generator for a brief cool-down period, and then shuts down the generator. It is ready for the next power outage.

No Time for Maintenance?

If that is the case, then that is OK. Automatic Standby Generators are self-exercising, and start and run for a brief period at your preset time once each week. In this way, your Automatic Standby Generator is always ready for the call of duty. We can handle all routine maintenance and repairs on your generator too.

Durability and Quiet?

Quiet, yet powerful! Our systems come prepackaged in a weatherproof, sound insulated enclosure. They use clean burning natural gas or propane fuel, not smelly gasoline or diesel fuel.

What about my house?

All houses and needs are different. We offer generator systems in an extensive range of capacities to ensure all your power needs are met when there is a power-supply failure. From 7kW right up to 150kW, the systems are either propane or natural gas powered, and either air or liquid cooled.

Don’t be left in the dark!

Disasters will come and go. However, you and your family can enjoy life uninterrupted in the comfort of your home. Call the safety experts at John's Electric today for your FREE, no obligation estimate for a new standby generator installation that’s just right for your home.

Spring is the perfect time for an electrical safety inspection

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Electrical circuitry and panels tend to get ignored throughout the year and only get addressed when you experience a short circuit or electrical trips. As a homeowner, you may not know everything involved in the electrical circuitry of your home but there are still some questions you should ask your electrical inspector and Spring is the perfect time to do it!

No matter the size of the job, from changing out old electrical paneling to major renovations to your home or property, you should always ask your electrical inspector whether or not your home’s electrical fittings are up to date and in compliance with current regulations and building codes.

Secondly, be sure your electrical inspector pays attention to the safety of your electrical panel and makes sure that they are properly insulated to avoid electrical shock. Panels must also never be placed near damp or wet areas.

Understanding your electrical consumption is also important. Washing machines, televisions and air conditioners consume significant amounts of electricity, and it is your responsibility as the homeowner to be sure they are connected to the right circuitry to avoid electrical shorts or fluctuations in voltage.

Lastly, once the inspection is completed and any necessary repairs made, have your inspector run a double check to be sure all of your electrical circuitry is working properly. Ask your inspector to provide you with a complete report of all inspections and repairs done.

Why is my main breaker on the breaker panel tripping all the time

Monday, April 17, 2017

Any of these issues can cause significant injury or death by electrocution or fire. If that consistent breaker tripping occurs in your home, try turning the breaker off and then on again. If it stays on, the issue may be resolved. If not, and the breaker still trips, try to determine which part of the electrical system is causing the problem. Your safety is of utmost importance. With any electrical issue, calling your electrician (and hey we know a awesome one...you can find that awesome electrician here) first can keep you out of serious danger.

Aubrey and Jeremy were awesome! I have an old house with old wiring and needed to install a new Range and above Range Microwave. They worked very hard to run new wiring to the breaker box in the basement, installed new plugs, and installed the appliances with great care.
