Handyman & Electrical Work Is Not Worth It

electrician handyman birmingham

Recently we were called to a job to fix the work of a not so handy “handyman” here in Birmingham. The owners had paid him to install a new light in a drop down ceiling. Something must not have been going right for him, and the wires were getting in the way, so he rigged it in WITHOUT putting the aluminum and copper connections in the proper fire protection junction box. This could have led to a terrible disaster for the homeowners. In the end, the ‘handyman” never answered calls from the homeowners, leaving them on the hook for his shotty work and having to essentially pay for the job twice, once from his mess up and one for our electrical repair.

There's nothing better than a nice, relaxing, hot shower.  But what happens when that hot water doesn't stay hot for very long anymore, and that relaxing shower is now an ice bath? It might be time to chuck your old hot water tank and invest in a new one!

What is GFCI protection and how is it maintained?

Monday, May 6, 2019

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) devices are required in specific areas of our homes by law.  We must all have GFCI protection in certain parts of our house such as our kitchens, bathrooms, unfinished basements, outside our homes as well as our garages. GFCI devices monitor the electricity between the ungrounded (hot) and grounded (neutral) conductors. If there is an improper imbalance between the two conductors the GFCI will stop the power from exiting the receptacle, so no one gets an electrical shock.

What others say about John's Electric Service

This company did an incredible job on our house. Had a few issues to get home ready for sale and he came next day - completed everything with perfection and great price. Aubrey is very honest and trustworthy! Will use him any other time I need electric work and strongly recommend him

My Mother recently came to live with me, and I needed a fan installed in her west-facing room, to keep it cool in the guest room. I had to wait a little bit, but it was worth it. The price was reasonable, I could tell he was conscientious and he made an extra effort to do as much as he could while he was here - including going down through a difficult attic to install, so the wires would not show. Highly recommend. He came with his grandson and they worked a few hours. Hoping to get him back soon for some more work. Thank you, John!

I had a strange electrical issue in my home, and I was expecting it to be an expensive repair. Aubrey came out very quickly, ran some tests, and knew exactly what it was. He repaired it for a fraction of the cost of what I was expecting. I will absolutely call John's Electric any time I need a professional electrician. I highly recommend this company.
